It's almost here...

...July 9th. Evans, a UK plus size boutique, releases the first collection from Beth Ditto. I've been oogling over the previews and I have to tell you: I will be pigging out on this stuff.

From domino leggings to this killer combo above, these are NOT your run of the mill plus size ensembles. I hope this collection does well so that there are even more incredible collections in the future!

Biggles!

I'm a big girl. I really am...there's no way around it, over it, under it...it's a sheer fact. I am also, however, completely against looking boring, sad, and god forbid, OLDER than I'm supposed to. I started working on Polyvore to make sets with all stuff that I could wear...plus size everything. It's kinda a far more difficult challenge than I expected, but I perservered. Thus, now I give you Biggles. Yep...no shame in my biggle game. Click on the set to get the shopping details!

This would be a great outfit for any casual day...shopping, school, hanging out with friends...it's SUPER comfortable and all of the pieces are great investments with a lot of outfit switching potential. I'm a huge fan of PINK, as you may know, so this is my favorite pop color to pair with basic black. My style for myself usually includes all black or mostly black clothing with TONS of color in my accessories!

Got some amazing plus size products you'd like me to use/see/link to? I'M DYING TO SEE THEM! Share in the comments section.

This is my new obsession. It's over the top, colorful, and the perfect way to kick off summer. Now...does anyone have $1225 to lend me?

House Hunting

My Fiance and I have officially become SICK of apartment living. After a crazy outburst from the neighbor below (the ones who's music rattles our windows), it's really REALLY become clear that we are getting too old for this crap. The current house market has also made it possible for us to attempt a house purchase, so all the more reason! We searched around Fullerton yesterday and collected names/companies to dig through once we got home. We'd like to move to Fullerton, but are open to Old Town Orange or Pasadena...though, both have proven to be too pricey. Fullerton has lots of home options and, as we discovered, lots of unique looking, fun colored houses!
Since neither one of us has done this before, we really don't even know where to begin. We don't have $50,000 lying around for a down payment, but I know there are loan options and all that jazz...though, the thought of handling it makes my head spin!!
Anyways, this is my house wish list...and I've been able to find things with ALMOST all of these wants, if you can believe it!

Total Max Price (from what I gather based on "approximate" monthly price): $300,000
- Central Air
- 3+ bedrooms
- 1+ bathrooms
- At least 1,100 sq ft (the more the better, of course)
- Decent Kitchen size (we've been living in tiny kitchen HELL)
- Indoor washer/dryer hook up
- 2 Car Garage
- Pool (oh yes, I've seen a few well below the max price WITH a pool...wanted, but not necessary)
- Fenced back yard for Popple
- Walk in Closets OR a 4th Bedroom (oh yes, a dressing room would be DIVINE).

Things I really could care less about: new paint, hardwood floors, close proximity to schools, and crown molding. Yes, I realize all of these things add to the value, but I'll be re-painting for sure and the other ones aren't that important to me...at all.

If any one has any tips or advice, I would LOVE to hear it =)

Inspiration Against Defeat

So, Prop 8 was upheld in our state yesterday. It's mind boggling, it really is. We can't change it instantly, but what we can do is be ourselves, live our lives and put our money in the RIGHT places. Support queer friendly stores and companies and the sheer force of American capitialism will be enough for the American "people" to change their minds.

I can tell you that Hot Topic, where my fiance works, supports domestic partnerships and is run by several "out" higher ups. Yes, they are quite large and have some questionable buying practices, but one issue at a time =) Lush has amazing, healthy products AND is very outspoken about gay rights! Anyone work for a great organzation that deserves our money? Leave a comment and let me know!

In addition to the style profiles, I'm going to feature some of the most amazing stores on the net. I love stores that have unique items. The first Shopping Junkie profile is for: Shana Logic! This is an amazing web shop, filled with handmade goodies from all over the world. From food scarves to ruler bracelets, this shop is playful and whimsical to the max. Their focus is to find independent artists and products...and then to present their products to a larger audience. Virtual Wall of Babes: Man Love Edition

Oh, when obsessions strike. Joe and I started watching Torchwood after hearing that James Marsters (aka Spike) had a role on the show. After a bit more research, we found out that he wasn't going to be on until the second season. In trying to pinpoint what episodes he was featured in, I came across some more details of what his role in the show would be. I was tickled to learn that he would be playing Jack Harkness's former lover/time traveling partner!! A quick image search and I bring you the virtual wall of babes "Man Love" edition.

Try not to pass out at the hotness.

Could I put up a creepier title? Maybe.

Virtual Wall of Babes: Miracle Laurie

Photobucket

Miracle plays "Millie" on Joss Whedon's new series, Dollhouse. Joss Whedon has always been more interested in pushing boundaries with his characters that other TV writers/directors. Buffy featured lesbian witches, quite progressive for a teen show, especially with the amount of sexual innuendo between the ladies. Why is this character so special? Well, as you can see, Miracle is freakin' hot. But, she is industry standard "plus size". This concept isn't revolutionary, but it's how Whedon portrays the character that makes me swoon! Not once has he made reference through any character about her size, nor has she ever been treated as "unattractive". She's had sexual relations with the "studly" main character without hesitation, nor indication that she's anything but a fierce, gorgeous lady! In one of the episodes, many characters have to change together in a close setting. They all pause with hesitation, but she starts undressing without batting an eyelash...that's what I'm talking about! I'm so excited to see where he goes with her and I'm seriously hoping that she doesn't take a plunge into the world of the "fat" character.

My Newest Hello Kitty

Best HK EVER!

I gothis adorable bank at the Sanrio Surprise store in Westminster yesterday. It makes me so happy, I snapped a photo (with a Barbara Walters lens, due to lack of make up).

Creepy Nightvision...aka Last Night

So, last night, after some Lola Gaspar deliciousness (Pink Addict Birthday Celebration), we decided to pop in the movie Quarantine. Um, it was truly frightening for me. I'm not sure if it was the mood I was in or if it's really that scary, but I almost asked to shut it off. It's all shot as if a news cameraman is on assignment, so you are seeing through his eyes...big horrors and even a camera lens smack down with an infected human. It's kind of a Zombie movie, but with a slightly different twist. Anyways, it reminds me of this video, which is also truly, truly terrifying.

Today: scrub out brain with happier movies.

A Dreamhouse of my Own

Inspired by the Barbie dream house, I set out to select some of my dream furniture/decor pieces...things that would make me never leave the house, unless carried out kicking and screaming. My color palette: silver/gray, black, purple, magenta, and turquoise.

I dream of a really spacious L shaped couch...preferably with a GIANT ottoman. I basically want a bed with a couch back! Something that you'd fall asleep on without getting a wicked crick in your neck.

The coffee table above has been on my wishlist for a good 4 years now. It's broken up into several pieces that can come together in many different formations. The brilliant purple color makes it yummier, like a big hunk of rock candy. The X Rug is from the same online store, InMod, which is a little slice of heaven for me. Their rugs are like pieces of art, featuring different shapes and patterns. The long "Gossip" rug is one of theirs too...gorgeous! I also realize that the pod chair thing is ridiculous: $1,000+ for a chair that will NEVER be sat in? Let's call it art, baby.

And then...there's the cupcake end table. Oh yes...it's an end table made to look like a giant cupcake. Jellio makes the greatest custom furniture EVER! They have a cupcake seat, candy dots bench, and various gummy lamps. It reminds me to the whimsy of Willy Wonka...and I would LOVE to have many of their pieces. Someday.

The Real Malibu Dream House

So when I heard the news that there was a REAL BARBIE MALIBU DREAM HOUSE, I had to see just what wonders were brewing inside it's walls. With Jonathan Adler at the design head, I knew it could be magical...and it does not disappoint. Put together for her 50th Birthday, the house is any pink fan's wet dream. Covered in her signature color, there's an entire closet filled with pink heels, tulle skirted chairs, and more whimsical decor than I've ever seen packed into one room. Click here to view the article and more photos. And don't forget to visit Pink Addict to start a Malibu dream house of your own!

Virtual Wall of Babes

When I was 12, I had wallpaper made of cute boy pin ups. It was absurd...Jonathan Brandis, Mike Vitar...and so many more. My older brother dubbed this fiasco the "Wall of Babes". Today, I was reminded of my WOB past when my girl Frankie sent me over the below images. I now dub this blog segment, Virtual Wall of Babes! Since my Buffy obsession is epic, I'm starting with my 2 current favorites. Delicious.

If Only to Be This Happy...

When all else fails...Belly Rubs!

Bat's Day Survival

Every year, the Goth kids of the world (or...Southern California) meet up at the happiest place on earth. Sound unlikely? It actually makes a super fun pair. Bat's Day in the Park is a gathering of spookies from around the country held at Disneyland in Anaheim, CA. The weekend includes concerts, vendors, and so much more! This year, I will be vending with Pink Addict, VersAtelier will have a booth, and Forgetmelots and 3ssica will be slingin' cards. Saturday will be a whirlwind day of products...and hopefully some cash along the way.
Sunday is the actual day...I have NO idea what I'm wearing, but I've put together a list of must haves for the long day at the park.

1. SUNSCREEN. You're goth, right? Who wants a tan, burn, or freckle?
Barbie Sunscreen

2. PARASOL. Goes hand in hand with #1. Keep you head cool and look adorable whilst acting responsible.
Pink Addict Parasol
Parasol from Pink Addict...who else?

3. COMFY FOOTWEAR. Don't sacrifice style! Plan you outfit around your footwear and you won't have to feel like a putz in a corset with cross trainers. I'm a big fan of flat maryjanes, comfy combat boots and ballet flats for this occasion. Cyber kids? Throw up some worn in platform sneakers and you should be good to go.
Minnie Mouse Maryjanes
Shoes from Emandsprout

4. BACKPACK. Handbags and box purses may look cute, but you'll be ready to throw it into the Pirates of the Carribean before the night is over. A medium size backpack is the ONLY way to go. Messenger bags are good too...anything that's easily comfy and hands free.
Sexy Anemone Bags
Sexy Anemone bags...available at Plastikwrap

5. CAMERA. This event is really a site. Hundreds of goth kids smooshed with middle class families...who doesn't want to capture that? Bring a small, lower-end camera...or your cellphone could do!
Hello Kitty Camera

6. SUNGLASSES. This is a no-brainer. It's So-Cal, kiddies.
Polka Dot Sunnies!

7. POCKET MIRROR. Chances are, you've got some form of make up on. What better time to touch up than in line for Space Mountain??

MOST IMPORTANT: Please don't be boring. This is a time to dress up and be RIDICULOUS! Here are some sample outfits for inspiration:
